- ABOUT FUTURE DOMAIN SCSI CD-ROM DEVICE DRIVER
- =============================================
-
-
- GENERAL PRODUCT OVERVIEW
- ------------------------
-
- 1) Product Description
-
- The Future Domain SCSI CD-ROM device driver is to be used with
- Future Domain SCSI controllers to support one or more CD-ROM
- drives on either a DOS or Windows Operating Systems. The device
- driver can support from 1 to 24 CD-ROM drives.
-
- 2) List of Supported SCSI CD-ROM Drives
-
- Please refer to Future Domain Compatible SCSI Embedded
- Peripherals List.
-
-
-

- run Windows 3.1
-
- - MS or PC DOS Version 3.x or later

-
-
- INSTALL/TECH TIPS (READ BEFORE INSTALLATION)
- --------------------------------------------
-
- 1) IMPORTANT - If the CD-ROM device(s) is attached to a Future Domain
- SCSI controller which contains a BIOS Version 3.00 or prior for
- 16-bit controllers or version 8.00 or prior for 8-bit controllers,
- you must take one of the following actions:
-
- a) Upgrade the BIOS.
- b) Load the appropriate DOS CAM loadable driver.
- c) Use the '/T' command line parameter to force the CD-ROM device
- driver to talk directly to the SCSI controller.
-
- usage: DEVICE=C:\DEV\FDCD.SYS /D:MSCD000 /T
-
- NOTE: The '/T' parameter must only be used with SCSI controllers
- that contain the BIOS versions 3.00 or 8.00 or prior.
-
- 2) LASTDRIVE = Z
- If you are getting invalid drive letters for your CD-ROM
- drives add the above line to your CONFIG.SYS file. To avoid
- having DOS reserving more drive letters than you need, change the
- letter Z to the last drive letter that your system needs.
-
- For example if you have one fixed drive with two partitions using
- drive letter C & D and one CD-ROM drive using drive letter E,
- set LASTDRIVE to E (LASTDRIVE = E). This is very important for
- Network users so that drive letters will be available to access
- Network drives as in a Novell environment.
-
- 3) You can remove the BIOS chip on the Future Domain SCSI controller
- if there are no fixed drives attached. This will allow the system
- to boot-up much more quickly since the SCSI bus will not be scanned
- by the BIOS upon boot-up.
-
- 4) For compatibility with the Future Domain Fixed Disk Device
- Driver (FDBIOS.SYS or FDDEVICE.SYS), load the disk device driver
- before loading FDCD.SYS in the CONFIG.SYS file.
-
-
-
